"I teach yoga to children because there is nothing more inspiring than watching a child discover the freedom, creativity and confidence that comes from feeling good in your own skin."

Emma Charvet, Co-Founder of Children’s Yoga Tree

Emma has been teaching yoga and mindfulness in schools for over ten years in the UK and has had the opportunity to watch hundreds of children grow in confidence, resilience and strength through yoga.

She is an accredited trainer with Yoga Alliance Professionals and co-founder of Children’s Yoga Tree. She is also a Thai Yoga Massage therapist and has an online community of yoga students through her strong, alignment based Vinyasa Yoga.

Emma is a passionate advocate of yoga and mindfulness as a therapeutic tool for child development. She works with Inclusion Managers in schools to provide Yoga Therapy Programmes for children with special needs, developing yoga routines to calm the nervous system and stimulate physical development.

When not teaching or training she can be found immersing herself in wild places on the South Downs and juggling single parenthood with her love of climbing, running and sea swimming. Her classes blend traditional yoga, breathing exercises and mindful meditation with a lifelong love of nature, sports, storytelling and games.

After ten years in the voluntary sector, working in the fields of children and health, Emma was inspired to train in Children's Yoga after the birth of her second child. Her Trainers and Mentors include Clare Missingham, Jo Manuel at the Special Yoga Centre and Uma Dinsmore-Tuli of Womb Yoga.

As a teacher and parent  Emma believes that now more than ever, children need yoga in order to navigate the busy, information-heavy world they are growing up in. She believes that having a generation exposed to yoga from primary school age will create a force for positive change.
